How becoming a remote therapist changed everything

Going remote and becoming a digital nomad was scary, but worth it. Like CRAZY worth it.

In 2015, therapists practicing remotely was practically unheard of. Some therapists thought it was sacrilege. Many thought I was crazy.

Then, when I started combining global travel with my remote therapy practice in 2018, it felt like a whole new world. Being a remote therapist without a physical office has changed my life for the better in so many ways:

  1. I gained 3-4 hours of my life back each day. Instead of spending countless hours driving in the car, I walk 60 seconds from my bedroom to wherever my laptop is.

  2. I saved hundreds each month by no longer needing to rent an office space.

  3. I stopped having to choose between travel or earning an income. I went from 2 weeks of vacation a year (max) to traveling whenever I want to.

  4. I ditched the monotony of a 9-5 in Southern California (I am not an office girly) and instead I’ve been able to wake up to fresh croissants in Paris, explore the temples in Chiang Mai, bask in the sun in Hawaii, and see the Christmas markets in Germany on “workdays” without skipping a beat with clients.

  5. I’ve been able to travel to one destination for extended periods of time (2 weeks up to 2 months) so that I can enjoy it slowly and deliberately like a local and not be rushed for time like a tourist.

Working as a remote therapist is a pretty sweet deal, with very few downsides. My quality of life has increased so much, I’ve been able to satiate my love of travel and sense of adventure, and frankly I think it’s only made me a better therapist, since I’m no longer burned out and suffering from a Vitamin D deficiency.

Making any kind of change can be super scary, but I think a risk in support of your quality of life should always be worth serious consideration. If you’re thinking about making a big change, this is your reminder that you can do hard things and that your joy and happiness is worth it.

If you are a therapist who loves the idea of traveling the world or wants the freedom to practice without an office: A few of you have asked me for tips on how to make it happen, and for the first time ever I’m actually able to invite you to work with me.

If you’re a California based mental health professional (psychiatrist, psychologist, or therapist) and interested in having a successful remote therapy practice just like I do, simply click here and I’ll tell you more. This is perfect for anyone who wants to start traveling ASAP and would rather have someone else do all the admin heavy lifting (marketing, billing, scheduling, etc.) Space is limited, so let me know asap if you want in!

BTW, my mission is help people love their lives so they never want to leave them.

Every week I do my best to share things with you that are inspiring, encouraging, and beneficial.
